DENMARK VISITS UNITED STATES TO TALK ABOUT FOOD

  • On June 10th to June 16th Kjer Hansen (Denmark’s Minister of Food and Agriculture) visited the United States to talk about food and agriculture trade. Denmark is very competitive when it comes to food exports and food productions. In 2008 Denmark raked in a total of 12 billion from the exp0rt of food and agricultural products.
  • Kjer Hansen was representing Danish producers and consumers when she made her visit to the United States with hopes of making progress on different trade issues. Though Denmark is small in size they are a member of the European Union which represents 27 member states on trading.
  • Kjer Hansen stated “the purpose of my visit is to engage in dialogue on issues related to food and agricultural trade that have been unsolved for too many years and that hamper free trade between two closely re-lated and befriended partes of the world”.
  • Kjer Hansen’s visit to the United States included meetings in Washington D.C. with some members of the new administration. Ms. Hansen visited Colorado to discuss the meat trade and also visited Missouri to talk about biotechnology.
